Fabrication of a Gun Mount Cradle Assembly
This assembly was replicated from an originally cast part, and had to occupy the same space and mount the same way as their tactical unit. Our Mazak HTX 510 laser was used to cut the specified 6061-T6 aluminum to precise specifications. Sections were rolled to the necessary profile, then our Milltronics machining centers were employed for the CNC milling work. 14 feet of welding was also required using TIG and MIG methods. The unit was inspected during and after construction for quality and accuracy using laser, and 2d inspection methods, as well as qualified fixtures.
The finished piece was painted a 27875 white, with a total of 9 units manufactured and delivered to our client in Orlando, with a turnaround time of 6 weeks. The gun mount cradle was 23” tallwith an outer diameter of approximately 22.00”, weighing 148 lbs. The tightest tolerances of ± 0.010” were held during fabrication. We are particularly proud of this project, as it was manufactured using the full spectrum of our machining & fabrication abilities.
